Come visit the Wild Side of ME
Nature Center and Wild Food Foraging in Maine
Lady of the Forest Nature Center is a 90 acre FREE, privately run nature reserve that survives solely on our own resources and donations. We are a Certified Wildlife Habitat with National Wildlife Federation and the property is in trust to New England Wildflower Society. We have no fencing so animals are free to come and go as they please. We strive to provide a suitable habitat that numerous kinds of flora, fish and fauna would like to call home. We have over a mile of trails that wind through several habitats from streams, marshland, fields, woods, dense pines, and more, including a working beaver habitat. All self-guided nature walks, snowshoeing and onsite tent camping is FREE, as stated above we operate solely on our own private funds and donations. Nature classes and guided wild food walks are offered at nominal fees per person.
Come take a walk with us to see what nature has to share with you. Don't forget to check out our
Herbal Apothecary Database where you can find hundreds of medicinal plants found here at the nature center and all around the country. You can also visit our
What's Blooming Now calendar, so you can plan your visit while a favorite plant is blooming or just follow along with us as we find new things in The Forest.
